St. Alexius Medical Center is investing heavily into their facilities and needed a solution to manage their portfolio of capital investment projects.
St. Alexius Medical Center is a 306-bed, full-service, acute care medical center offering a full line of inpatient and outpatient medical services, including primary and specialty physician clinics; home health and hospice services; durable medical equipment services and a fitness and human performance center.
Since being founded in 1885, St. Alexius Medical Center has been dedicated to serving the residents of central and western North Dakota, northern South Dakota and eastern Montana.
Besides the main campus located in Bismarck, North Dakota, St. Alexius owns and operates hospitals and clinics in Garrison, ND and Turtle Lake, ND and manages the hospital and clinics owned by Mobridge Regional Hospital in Mobridge, SD. St. Alexius also owns and operates a primary care clinic in Mandan, ND and specialty and primary care clinics in Minot, ND.
Bismarck, ND and surrounding regions are experiencing heavy population growth due to oil exploration in the Bakken Formation. As a result of the surging demand for healthcare services, St. Alexius Medical Center and the PrimeCare Health System have been investing heavily in the renovation and expansion of their facilities. Managing this large portfolio of projects caused St. Alexius to explore opportunities to improve how they manage and coordinate the work to prevent cost overruns and delays. Even more importantly, St. Alexius needed to create a model that could support the development of accurate budgets and resource requirements.
St. Alexius is now operating using BeingManagement and has created a complete pipeline model of all its planned facilities projects. Several larger projects with aggressive completion dates, such as the construction of a new clinic, are now being managed in the new system. Management now has much better line of sight on project delays and the ability to better prioritize which corrective actions need to be taken to protect cost and schedule requirements. As a result of the improved coordination with the construction trades, St. Alexius is receiving significantly more value and more predictability from its investment in the capital projects.
